Blanca’s House presents at the TEDx Event in La Jolla, California

In every community there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart there is the power to do it.
Marianne Williamson

“In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together …. to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.” TED is owned by a not-for-profit foundation whose mission is simply to spread good ideas to the world. Much of the content ends up being offered free online.

Valerie Simpson, Robyn Feld, Administrators, and Galo Burbano, Founder, as representatives of Blanca’s House, were requested to speak at the invitation-only TEDx Event in La Jolla, California on September 17, 2011. The theme of the conference was IMPACT. The audience consisted of a dynamic and diverse group from around the world, all unified by the desire to attend TED and TEDx. To be in the company of so many thoughtful and inspiring folks with enlightening ideas was an honor. We walked away with an enriched sense of contemplation and honored to be with people who truly have impact on the world around them (and to be considered ones, as well).

Our compelling topic, “Healthcare: Going Global,” communicated the idea that there is a great healthcare crisis in the world and the power of Blanca’s House to IMPACT the problem, no matter how small the area our missions serve. Our presentation included a Power Point and video from the “trenches” that held the audience as stories were told and pictures were shared. We were on the world stage – our opportunity to take the message beyond Blanca’s House, to a global mission and how the world can participate.

TEDx and TED are a powerful conveyor of thought-provoking words and actions and we hope to be a part of this amazing group again.
